Former FT and SHA boss and DH director-general of commissioning and system management Mark Britnell is a formidably bright and very charming guy. I'm sure he's doing interesting work with KPMG now as their global head of health, and it's always good to hear him speak at an event.

I have used this analogy before, but more than ever before, the Health Bill reminds me of Schrödinger's Cat: it is potentially both alive and dead at the same time, depending wholly on random events, until the box is opened. (The box, we must presume, is on loan from Pandora.)

NHS reform may not be rocket science, but this attempt at it is definitely quantum physics.

It has been quite a weekend, with Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg making bullish noises on the BBC Andrew Marr Show, including stating that "no bill is better than a bad Bill ... getting these changes right is now my Number One priority".

Brilliant. Absolutely brilliant. Number 10 has briefed Telegraph political editor Andrew Porter that PM David Cameron's health advisor Sean Worth is to be sent to the DH to 'sell the reforms'.

Because the problem with these reforms is the communication.

The signs so far from the local election results are that in England, the Lib Dems have taken a not-unexpected beating; Labour have some gains; and the Conservatives have held up better (if not much better) than expected.
